Ceyana Canoe Club
The Alberta Summer Games are coming up soon! AWA is looking for volunteers to help out with paddling at Rundle Park. They are seeking volunteers for any or all days of the games competitions (Friday - Sunday July 17 - 19). We are looking for folks to assist with:
setting up our course on the pond
adjusting this course as needed
helping to marshal youth to their race starts
moving shared boats from the finish to the start
help youth to have the correct size paddle for their race (particularly the C1 paddles)
assist when athletes lunches arrive
assist with setting up podium area and take down on Sunday
help judges with having water to drink and snacks
other general supports during competition
These volunteers would NOT require special training although having done an online Safe Sport training is always helpful for us in reporting and demonstrating our commitment to safe spaces. Volunteer perks include a free t-shirt, lunch, snacks and beverages, and free access to games events with your volunteer accreditation, with the exception of the opening ceremonies which is a ticketed event. We will have the new youth and beginner friendly INFLATABLE canoe polo nets set up for a fun tournament of learning and playing the game.
Zone teams and packages are being finalized and sent out - getting closer to being ready for the big event!
