We are planning on paddling various reaches on the Upper Red Deer River with camping at the Cartier Creek campground or the Red Deer River North campground site. These reaches are for river/white water paddlers with intermediate or better skills. This river can offer multiple rapids in the Class II + to easy III range. Lots of ledges, rocks to dodge, fast water, great paddling at reasonable flows 50 to 90 cms or so. Paddlers must be equipped with either wet/dry suit, full flotation for the boats, throw bags, helmets and PFDS.
Everyone will need a $50 FOESA membership to camp (click here).
We do cancel if it is ugly! Thunderstorms, big winds, major storm fronts in the forecast, high water >120 cms, etc. It is best to register so our leaders can send out timely instructions or cancellation!
Registration open March 21 to June 12.
